Shere Museum is situated in Surrey’s beautiful and historically interesting Tillingbourne (also known as Tilling Bourne) Valley. We welcome
individuals and
groups including school visits, and can organise
guided walks around the fascinating pre-Domesday village of Shere.
Entry to the Museum is free to all, and access to
wheelchairs can be arranged for the ground floor.
We are staffed entirely by
volunteers, and rely on
donations and
Friends of the Museum to continue our important work. Visitors can purchase a range of books and other items from our shop, the proceeds of which also help to support us.
The
Collection we hold is a rich and diverse mixture of artifacts and documents from the Surrey area, with the emphasis on items that are of particular relevance to Shere Parish, which includes the villages of Shere, Gomshall and Peaslake. We also allow access to our
archives by arrangement, which provide an important resource to those wishing to research local families, places and historical events. The Museum puts on several
exhibitions a year, as well as providing material for exhibitions hosted by other organisations.
Visit us to find out all about the lives of the people who have inhabited Shere Parish over the centuries – you are sure to be given a warm welcome by the people who live here today.
